Adoptions for Florida

Florida Adoption Reunion Registry (FARR) under the Florida Department of Children & Family:  "The Florida Legislature established in the FARR in 1982 to support people affected by adoption in Florida. This allows birth family members the opportunity to reunite."  This site also contains information on how to request non-identifying information about birth parents, and who is eligible to make the request.

US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), General Land Office (GLO) Records

Provides live access to Federal land conveyance records for the Public Land States, including image access to more than five million Federal land title records issued between 1788 and the present. They also have images of survey plats and field notes, land status records, and control document index records.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Ancestor Search

The DAR Genealogical Research System (GRS) is a free resource provided by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to aid general genealogical research and to assist with the DAR membership process. The GRS is a collection of databases that provide access to the many materials amassed by the DAR since its founding in 1890.

FamilySearch

This free site is constantly being updated. It currently has the 1850-1900 census available, with the 1920 census under construction. No images for the 1880 census. The site also currently has some state census records from these states: Florida, (1885, 1935, 1945), Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Microfilms of county records are currently being digitized and records are being added on a regular basis, so this should not be considered a complete list of their assets.

Family History Library Classes and Webinars

Family Tree DNA (FTDNA)

FamilyTreeDNA pioneered the field of genetic genealogy—the use of DNA testing to establish relationships between individuals and determine ancestry. Surname Group Projects provide communities for people who are interested in pursuing information about a specific topic related to their genealogy.  These Group Projects are run by volunteer administrators, who are working on their own genealogy and facilitate their Group Project members’ research using DNA test results.

Find A Grave

This free site is primarily volunteer fed and claims to have registered more than 43 million graves. You can search using a variety of criteria. The information available depends largely on the volunteers providing the information and ranges from tombstone transcription to photographs of all stones in a given cemetery.

Findmypast

A subscription site. Findmypast is a UK-based online genealogy service. The website hosts billions of searchable records of census, directory and historical record information. 

Fold3

Fold3 features premier collections of original military records. These records include the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served in the military. Many of records come the U.S. National Archives, The National Archives of U.K. and many others.

NEW Foundation for East European Family History Studies

National Archives Military Records Research

The National Archives holds Federal military service records from the Revolutionary War to 1912 in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Military service records from WWI - present are held in the National Military Personnel Records Center (NPRC), in St. Louis, Missouri.  Post-WWI regimental and unit records are primarily held at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland.
