About Heritage: Quarterly Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Greater Miami

In the early days of the Society, GSGM approved a quarterly bulletin be published.  Although Heritage did not bear its name until June 1980 (Vol 6, No 2), the bulletin was produced as a means to share information among members and to other societies and libraries. It was published continuously from 1975 (Vol1) – 2012 (Vol 38) and revived in 2021 (Vol 39).

Beginning with the fledgling society’s member lists and organizational business, GSGM soon produced articles about Miami and South Florida pioneers, statistics, rolls, cousin hunting, and family histories.  Summaries of probate files from 1886-the 1900s, tax rolls of tax collector John Thomas Peacock, and articles about Miami pioneers such as Peacock, Brickell, and Julia Tuttle were also highlighted.
